About MultiAuto

MultiAuto is a native OBD-II scanner for iPhone with free diagnostics and optional Pro ownership tools. It connects through a Wi-Fi ELM327 adapter and keeps your vehicle data on the device. There is no account, cloud, advertising, analytics, or tracking.

What it is

MultiAuto is an iPhone-only app for iOS 26 and later. It connects to a generic Wi-Fi ELM327 adapter over local TCP and shows the standard live data that your vehicle reports.

It also reads stored, pending, and permanent emissions-related trouble codes, freeze frame, emissions readiness, and VIN. Common codes receive a plain-English summary. If a code needs a manufacturer-specific definition, MultiAuto says so instead of inventing an answer.

Status

MultiAuto is a new iPhone app. This page will link to its App Store listing as soon as the public URL is available.

Principles

Free core, optional Pro

MultiAuto is free to download and its diagnostics are free forever. MultiAuto Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks ownership tools (unlimited profiles, dashboard editor, recording, CSV export). No ads, no data selling, no account either way. You buy the physical adapter separately from a third party; we do not sell hardware or take a commission. See MultiAuto Pro for details.

No account

There is no sign-in, email capture, account record, or vehicle registration. Open the app, use demo mode, or connect to a Wi-Fi adapter.

No cloud and no telemetry

MultiAuto has no server, analytics, tracking, or telemetry. Vehicle profiles, recordings, dashboards, exports, and diagnostic reports stay on your iPhone unless you choose to share them.

A narrow diagnostic scope

MultiAuto reads standard OBD-II diagnostics and can safely clear standard emissions-related codes through a guarded flow. It does not code, program, actuate, reset, or flash vehicle systems.

Honest about limits

MultiAuto does not reach ABS, airbag, transmission, body, or other manufacturer-specific modules, and it does not provide AI diagnosis or repair instructions. Unsupported live values are labeled unsupported rather than shown as zero.

Wi-Fi only

The app connects to generic Wi-Fi ELM327 adapters over local TCP. It does not support Bluetooth LE or Bluetooth Classic and does not ask for Bluetooth permission. See the honest status table on Adapters.

A clearly marked demo

Demo mode simulates a vehicle without a car, adapter, network, or permission. Simulated screens are visibly badged “Demo” so they cannot be mistaken for real readings.

What MultiAuto is not

  • Not a mechanic. It reports readings and stored codes; it does not diagnose a failed part or prescribe a repair.
  • Not a full-system scan tool. It does not reach ABS, airbag, transmission, body, or other manufacturer-specific modules.
  • Not a programming tool. Beyond safely clearing standard emissions-related codes, it cannot change the car.
  • Not a cloud vehicle log. Saved profiles, recordings, dashboards, reports, and exports stay local unless you share them.
  • Not an iPad app. MultiAuto is for iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
